“Pollution in Lebanon is a violation ” was the title of Dr. Najat Saliba’s talk, in which she discussed the problems and responsibilities regarding the environmental crisis in Lebanon. Why and how did we as Lebanese get to this stage of violation of the environment. Why do we accept it? and how we can start the change within ourselves. She also discussed some of the solutions that are being implemented, by her team, in different areas in Lebanon.
Najat Salida is a professor of Atmospheric Chemistry at the American University of Beirut (AUB). She also is the Director of the Nature Conservation Center (AUB-NNC), Co-executive Director of Khaddit Beirut (after the August 4th blast) and Director of the Environment Academy.
She was voted among the BBC top 100 Women in science for 2019 and won the 2019 L’Oreal UNESCO international award for women in science.
